What is the ideal tilt angle for my solar array?

A solar panel will have its best production when it is positioned perpendicular to the rays of the sun, however the suns position is always changing in the sky. A steeper tilt is better in winter months while a shallower tilt is better in the summer months.  The industry standard for this is + or - 15 degrees from latitude. For the best annual production the tilt angle should be somewhere between latitude and -15 degrees from latitude.
